Professional bodies to share expertise and collaborate on initiatives
11 Aug 2009
ACCA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Jordanian Association of Certified Public Accountants (JACPA), in a move that will see both bodies collaborate on issues of concern to the accountancy profession in Jordan.
ACCA and JACPA, who between them represent thousands of financial professionals and students in the Middle East, will share information on the profession in Jordan, as well as focus on technical research and advice, quality assurance, issues for small and medium-sized practices (SMPs) and continuing professional development (CPD).
The bodies will also propose and develop joint technical events in Jordan for the benefit of members of both organisations, who will be invited to attend appropriate meetings, events and seminars hosted by other member bodies.
ACCA and JACPA will meet annually to review cooperation during the previous year and to confirm a programme of joint activities for the forthcoming year.
'We have the highest regard for JACPA and the work it has been undertaking in Jordan since its formation in 1987,' said Stephen Shields, ACCA's head of corporate development, Middle East. 'We are delighted to be able to sign this memorandum, which will enable us to work together in future to develop a number of exciting initiatives and to share experiences and expertise for the benefit of the profession in Jordan and across the region.'
