Pensions Act 2008

The Pensions Act 2008 takes forward the Government's plans to extend pensions provision to those who have hitherto been outside the scope of occupational and personal pensions. An estimated 7 million people are in this category. The Act contains provisions regarding the constitution and powers of the Personal Accounts Delivery Authority, the body which will administer the new system of personal accounts, to provide for the automatic enrolment of workers into either personal accounts or a qualifying occupational or personal scheme, and makes a number of changes to the rules on the treatment of pensions in divorce cases.
